What do Europeans think of circumcision

Circumcision is very rarely done and spoken about in Europe, with the majority of circumcised men here being of Muslim and Jewish decent. The other cases of circumcised men are those whom suffer from phimosis (a very tight foreskin), doctors in Ireland for example a very quick to recommend circumcision as a quick money making solution to phimosis than telling them about foreskin stretching. This can be done many ways from using the fingers to using a tugging device.

I remember in school as a child it was taboo to be circumcised, the boys and I would retract and squirm when the word was mentioned. I remember when writing my Undergraduate degree dissertation telling my a my male housemates and classmates about circumcision in the USA. They would ask me ' do they really do that?' after needing a moment of silence think as they physically retract in shock. In Germany as well as the Nordic countries (Finland, Sweden, Norway, Iceland and Denmark) there have been many instances of where people have proposed circumcision bans for minors. These proposals generally have been muted by Jewish and Muslim minorities and American interference in any parliamentary discussion.

I remember when I my mother proofread my dissertation, she began to sob and asked me, 'why would a mother do this to their child?'. Europeans who have not been exposed to circumcision generally have the same opinion as the two aforementioned. However, those who have been circumcised in Europe, though they are few, tend to believe that it was best thing for them unless they have deliberately gone to search the damaging effects of circumcision and the possibility they would have had of stretching their foreskins.
